Attempt To Flee Alerts RCMP To 'Suspicious Occurrence' In Surrey, B.C.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 10 May, 2019 07:07 PM

SURREY, B.C. — Two men are in custody, two weapons have been found and a vehicle has been seized following what RCMP in Surrey, B.C., are calling a "suspicious occurrence."

A police news release says officers arrived at a gated housing complex early Monday morning on an unrelated call and spotted a Honda Accord and a Chevrolet Colorado on the street.

Both vehicles tried to flee as officers drove up, but the Honda rammed the side of the townhouse gate and became stuck while the pickup clipped a police car as it blasted through the closed gate and sped away.

Two men from the Honda were arrested at the scene but police say a third person was able to get away and has not yet been found.

A semi-automatic pistol, hunting knife and latex gloves have been seized from the Honda while the truck has also been located and seized.

Ten charges, including failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and unlawful possession of a firearm have been laid against 30-year-old Surrey resident Ryan Molner, while RCMP say a second man is being held in custody on unrelated warrants.
