Police in Metro Vancouver say they're investigating an assault on a woman wearing a hijab as a possible hate crime.
New Westminster Police say they received a report of an assault inside a fast-food restaurant at about 10 o'clock Sunday night.
They say the victim told officers that a woman had spat on her, with the suspect described as about 55 years old with dark brown and straight shoulder-length hair.
Police say they're investigating the incident as a possible hate crime given the victim was wearing a hijab -- and based on comments the suspect made during the alleged assault.
