ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Homicide investigators have been called after an assault turned deadly in Abbotsford, B.C.

Police say they were called to the parking lot of a large shopping mall in central Abbotsford at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

An unnamed man was found with life-threatening injuries and was treated in hospital but died a short time later.

The victim has been identified but his name is not being released pending next of kin notification. The victim is 41-years old and from Abbotsford with no connection to gangs. 

This is believed to be an isolated incident.

The police statement says one adult and two youths are suspects in the death and have been taken into custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the case.

Abbotsford police say that team will provide any further updates and anyone with information, dashcam or surveillance video should contact homicide detectives.

The Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit (SVU) was advised of the social media post and has reached out to the individual who posted it in order to seek more information. To date, SVU have not received any reported incidents of women being followed by men in a white van.
