Early last evening, an East-Asian woman was walking in southeast Vancouver when she noticed up ahead that a man was standing and staring at her. Feeling frightened, she turned around and quickly walked away. The man followed her. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her backwards, then ran away.

A witness driving by got out of his car and chased the suspect, holding him until police arrived.

The man was arrested for assault and taken to jail. The VPD’s hate crime investigator is reviewing the case.
