Another Stabbing And Shooting In Same Surrey Neighbourhood; RCMP Investigate

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Apr, 2015 12:32 PM
SURREY, B.C. — Investigators are canvassing a Surrey, B.C., neighbourhood after police say more gunfire erupted in the same area where someone was stabbed.

Mounties say that around 3 a.m., residents reported hearing gunshots as well as people arguing and cars being driven erratically near 94-A Avenue and 124th Street.

Around the same time, a man arrived at the local hospital with stab wounds to his upper body.

RCMP say there is evidence that an altercation occurred in the same area as the gunfire.

Officers say they are investigating whether the two incidents are related and if they're connected to several other shootings in Surrey and neighbouring Delta.

There have been 23 shootings in the area in the last two months — including one that killed a young man — and police have linked at least 14 of them to a turf war between gangs.
