Another Delay In Case Of Richard Henry Bain Charged In 2012 Quebec Election Shooting

    MONTREAL — There's been yet another delay in the case of the man charged with murder in Quebec's 2012 election shooting.
     
    The lawyer for Richard Henry Bain says a potential buyer for one of his client's properties has not yet handed over $40,000 — money that is earmarked for some of the accused's defence costs.
     
    Alan Guttman is suggesting he could ask for another postponement if he doesn't get the money.
     
    Bain is charged in the slaying of lighting technician Denis Blanchette outside a Montreal nightclub in September 2012 as then-Parti Quebecois leader Pauline Marois was toasting her party's election win.
     
    He also faces two counts of attempted murder and several weapons-related charges.
     
    Jury selection in the Quebec Superior Court trial has been set for next May.
