Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 16 Nov, 2015 11:43 AM
VANCOUVER — A baby beluga fathered by a whale from the Vancouver Aquarium has died at SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas.

The two-year-old calf's cause of death has yet to be determined, though SeaWorld says she was being treated at the time for signs of gastrointestinal issues.

Stella's father, Imaq, was captured from the wild from Hudson Bay near Churchill, Man. in 1990.

He has been at the Texas ocean them park on a breeding loan from Vancouver since 2011.

Stella is the second of Imaq's calves to die this year in San Antonio.

Another of his offspring was born a month premature and died three weeks later, on July 12.
