Police in Abbotsford say a 25-year-old man is dead after a shooting in the city on Saturday. Investigators have identified the victim as 25-year old man Amritpal Saran of Abbotsford. 

Abbotsford police say officers were called to a parking lot on South Fraser Way after a report of shots fired where they found a man with serious injuries. 

Police say the man died from gunshot wounds after providing first aid, and investigators say the shooting appears targeted, and a vehicle fire was reported soon after the incident 

Abbotsford police say the shooting is now being handled by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The BC Civil Liberties Association and Pivot Legal Society want Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon to stop any evictions at the Lonzo Park encampment, located on provincially owned land originally intended as a park-and-ride in Abbotsford. The letter reminds Kahlon that several B.C. Supreme Court rulings have found forcible eviction is illegal when other housing options are inadequate.
