American Tourist In Critical Condition In Montreal After Four-Storey Fall

The Canadian Press, 21 Aug, 2017 12:38 PM
Montreal police say a tourist from California is in critical condition after falling four storeys early this morning.

The incident took place at a popular bar in the Gay Village in the city's downtown area.

Police say the 29-year-old man had been at the patio of the bar and tried to climb an adjacent building's fire escape to get to the roof.

They say he lost his footing and fell about four flights to the ground, where officers found him unconscious on the sidewalk.

Const. Caroline Chevrefils says police consider the event an accident.

It took place as Canada Pride wrapped up its events — the first edition of a nationwide celebration of Canada's LGBT movement held this year in Montreal.
