American Extradited, Charged With Killing Edmonto's Dwayne Demkiw Who Disappeared In 2015

The Canadian Press, 23 Sep, 2016 12:09 PM
VANCOUVER — Edmonton police say an American man has been extradited to Canada to face murder and arson charges.

Police said Jason Steadman, who 41, is charged in the death of Dwayne Demkiw.

Demkiw was last seen leaving his workplace in Edmonton at about 4 a.m. on May 31, 2015.

Later that morning, his vehicle was found burning and abandoned in Calgary.

Nearly a year after his disappearance, Demkiw's remains were found near Innisfail, Alta.

Edmonton police say U.S. marshalls turned him over at the Douglas border crossing in British Columbia on Thursday.

Steadman was scheduled to appear in a Vancouver courtroom today.
