Amber Alert cancelled and mother arrested after three children found safe

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 04 Jun, 2019 05:55 PM

RCMP in Alberta say three young children who were found safe after an Amber Alert was issued early Saturday were with their mother, and that the woman has been arrested.

A news release from police says their preliminary investigation indicates the children, aged between nine months and four years, were abducted from a residence in Fox Creek and were taken in a vehicle.

An Amber Alert was issued with a description of the children, the alleged abductor and the vehicle police believed she was driving.

Police say the vehicle was later spotted on the side of a highway north of Sylvan Lake, more than 300 kilometres away, and that the mother and three children were found.

The children were unharmed but were taken to hospital as a precaution, police say, and charges are pending against the woman.

RCMP are thanking a member of the public who they say contacted them after receiving the Amber Alert and helped bring a swift resolution to the incident.
