  • Amber Alert Cancelled After Four-Year-Old Vancouver Girl Found Safe And Sound
VANCOUVER — An Amber Alert has been cancelled in British Columbia after a four-year-old Vancouver girl who police allege was abducted by her mother was found safe and sound.

Police were concerned for the girl's safety after her mother allegedly took her from her guardian's home in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon.

Acting Sgt. Brian Montague said the child was located in nearby Surrey at about noon on Friday.

He said police were concerned about the girl's safety because her mother leads a "high-risk lifestyle."

Montague said there was no specific information to suggest the woman wanted to harm her daughter.

Police said they had a 46-year-old woman in custody and their investigation was continuing.

Vancouver police said they had assistance from the RCMP and other police agencies in the Lower Mainland in their search for the child and her mother.

Before the child was found, Montague said her mother has no fixed address or access to a vehicle, which can make a search "very, very difficult."
