PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. — The mother of a B.C. teen who has said her daughter took her own life because of sexual exploitation is disturbed that someone appears to have stolen a memorial plaque from her garden.
 
Carol Todd says a stone reading "a beautiful soul is never forgotten" was placed in front of her Port Coquitlam home after the death of her 15-year-old child, Amanda, in 2012.
 
Todd says she noticed it was missing when a friend pointed it out to her over the weekend.
 
She says the stone, while inexpensive, was like a piece of her daughter and she's saddened that it's no longer there for her to look at.
 
Todd says she believes the culprit might not have been aware of the plaque's sentimental value, but is hoping whoever took it will  return it to her.
 
The high-profile case of the teen's alleged exploitation garnered international attention after a YouTube video surfaced in which, not long before her death, she held up handwritten signs detailing what happened to her.
 
Aydin Coban was arrested in the Netherlands last year and is facing charges in the Todd case of extortion, criminal harassment, Internet luring and two counts relating to child pornography.
