Alleged Vancouver Shoplifter Faces Gun Charges After Weapons Discovered In Bag: Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Jan, 2015 09:37 PM
VANCOUVER — If it weren't for the three guns he was allegedly carrying, a 28-year-old man in Vancouver might only be facing shoplifting charges.

Instead, police say he is charged with six firearms-related offences and three counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

The trouble began when police say loss-prevention officers at a store noticed a man picking up items and allegedly walking past the checkout counter without paying.

Police say the man broke into a run, but was soon caught and handcuffed after a brief struggle.

Officers arrived, searched his bag and that's when they say they found three semi-automatic handguns, two of which were loaded, as well as ammunition for each weapon.

Police say he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
