Alleged B.C. Auto Thieves Arrested In Okanagan, Remain In Custody

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 08 May, 2015 01:46 PM
PENTICTON, B.C. — A man and woman who police allege are among the "most wanted" vehicle-crime offenders in B.C.'s Lower Mainland have been arrested in the Okanagan.

Sgt. Rick Dellebuur of the Penticton RCMP says officers arrested 28-year-old Matthew Soper and 21-year-old Laetitia Acera early Thursday.

Dellebuur says B.C.'s auto-crime team named both among the "top 10" most-wanted, vehicle-crime offenders in the Vancouver area, and Soper was also on Surrey's "most wanted" list.

He says police responded to residential and vehicle break ins on Tuesday in Okanagan Falls and Penticton.

A vehicle that was suspected of being stolen from White Rock was tracked down to a local hotel, after which Dellebuur says police moved in and arrested Soper, Acera and others.

Dellebuur says Soper, Acera and another female suspect remain in custody.
