Mounties say firefighters called them to an event at Surrey’s Guildford Town Centre on Saturday night for a possible assault.

They say officers were attempting to determine what had happened when a fight broke out.

Police say a woman was taken into custody while another woman was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

They say the matter is still under investigation and are asking that anyone with information come forward.

A cougar attack in a popular wilderness area of Banff National Park has left one person with minor injuries. EMS crews responded to the Rockbound Lake trailhead around 11 a.m. on Monday for reports that a person had been attacked by a cougar, said Alberta Health Services.
