All Aboard Safe As Mechanical Issue Diverts British Airways Plane To Gander, N.L.

    GANDER, N.L. — All passengers and crew are safe as a mechanical issue forced a British Airways jet flying from Paris to Newark to land at an airport in central Newfoundland today.
     
    Gander International Airport confirmed on social media that 96 passengers and four crew got off the Boeing 757  safely.
     
    No one from the airline or airport authority was immediately available to offer more detail on what went wrong.
     
    Fire trucks and emergency crews were on hand as the plane landed safely at about 4 p.m. local time.
