Alberta Premier Rachel Notley Expands Cabinet To Include Six New Ministers

The Canadian Press, 02 Feb, 2016 11:10 AM
EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Rachel Notley has expanded her cabinet by almost half to include six new ministers.

The new faces include Ricardo Miranda, believed to be the province's first openly gay minister, who will be in charge of culture and tourism.

Health Minister Sarah Hoffman takes on the added responsibility of deputy premier.

Other new faces include Richard Feehan, Christina Gray, Stephanie McLean, Marlin Schmidt and Brandy Payne.

Lori Sigurdson has moved from advanced education and labour to seniors and housing.

Notley started her term as premier last May with one of the smallest cabinets in Alberta history — just 12 members, including herself.

That changed to 13 last fall with the creation of the Economic Development and Trade portfolio.
