A study has found Alberta First Nations are at a much higher risk of stillborn births.
Researchers from the University of Alberta examined more than 425,000 births in Alberta from 2000 to 2009.
Author Richard Oster says the risk of stillborn births was 70 per cent higher for First Nations women.
He says the rate has remained steady in the last decade.
At the same time, Oster says, stillborn births have been falling in other high-income countries.
The study was published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada.
