Air quality advisory is cancelled for Vancouver and Fraser Valley

Darpan News Desk Canadian Press, 13 Aug, 2014 11:34 AM
Clouds and rain for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have improved the air, allowing for the cancellation of the air quality advisory.

The advisory was issued on Tuesday because of heavy smoke floating in from forests fires in Washington State.

The warning advised people with chronic medical conditions, infants, seniors and others with lung or heart disease, to avoid strenuous exercise because of high concentrations of fine particles in the atmosphere.

A wildfire smoke advisory was issued Tuesday for Prince George and area because of nearby forests fires and that remains in effect.

A smoke advisory issued earlier for Grand Forks and the area around southeast B.C. also remains up because of smoky conditions.

The same advisory in the Thompson, Shuswap, Okanagan, Similkameen, Nicola, Boundary and Fraser Canyon districts was issued last week and is still posted.
