Abbotsford's MJ Mouat Secondary school was under lockdown

On Tuesday at 12:13 pm, Abbotsford Police responded to a report of an active shooter at WJ Mouat Secondary School.

Every on-duty AbbyPD officer responded to the call. The initial information provided to the police came from a student within the school.

School staff were notified, resulting in the school being put on lockdown. Upon police arrival, officers immediately entered the school and began a clearing search ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Investigators believe the original information provided to police was unfounded and that no active shooter was ever present at the school.

UPDATE FOUR:
The lockdown has been lifted, however the shelter remains in place. Students will be dismissed at the normal dismissal time. Thankyou for your patience everyone.

Police can confirm that no suspect was ever seen on the school grounds, nor were any shots fired. Further, no students or staff were harmed in this incident.

Police is continuing this investigation in partnership with the Abbotsford School District to determine how the original information surfaced.

All parents of students attending WJ Mouat Secondary will receive further communication from the school directly.

The cause of death remains under investigation. Evidence indicates the woman died prior to the fire starting. Vancouver Police are working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the woman.

More snow brings warnings for some B.C. highways

Environment Canada says anywhere from 15 to 25 centimetres is expected at higher elevations of the passes north and east of Hope by Tuesday morning. Up to 15 centimetres of snow is forecast along the Sea-to-Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler, but the weather office says conditions there should ease by later in the day.

Flair Airlines says passengers were "impacted" after four of its leased aircraft were seized in Toronto, Edmonton and Waterloo, Ont., in what the company is calling a "commercial dispute." Flair issued a statement on Saturday calling the move by "a New York-based hedge fund" to take the aircraft "extreme and unusual."

One found dead in an apartment fire in the Whalley area of Surrey

Surrey Fire Service say they found one person dead inside an apartment after a fire in the Whalley area. The Surrey RCMP were also called in to the 13300 Block of 104th Avenue where the fire took place at around 8:30am on Saturday.
