Abbotsford Police Report Series Of Break-Ins On Winfield Drive

The Canadian Press, 29 Nov, 2018 12:09 PM
Abbotsford Police have noticed an increase in reported break-ins in the Winfield Drive area (near Whatcom Rd) of Abbotsford over the past month.

Since October 20th, Winfield Drive has had 9 break-ins, 3 of which occurred last week. The majority of these break and enters took place in the evening or overnight, with the prowler(s) gaining access through unlocked doors or windows.

Crime Prevention Unit Sgt. Jason Scott notes, “It’s important to not make it easy for thieves. Take the time to make sure your doors and windows are locked, your blinds are closed and your outside lights are on.”

The Abbotsford Police Department reminds citizens to get into the habit of practicing the 9pm Routine, which includes locking up vehicles and residences before going to bed.

Please be aware of strangers in your neighbourhood and report all suspicious activity, even minor incidents such as change stolen from a car overnight.

If you suspect your house has been broken into, report it to police immediately, and don't enter until you know the home is safe. Please do not touch anything indoors until police have investigated.
