Abbotsford Homicide Victim Satkar Sidhu's Family Make Plea To Find Killer

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 20 Feb, 2018 12:57 PM
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The family of a 23-year-old man is appealing for information a year after his murder on a quiet residential street in Abbotsford, B.C.

Satkar Sidhu was shot on Feb. 20 last year, and police say he died despite the efforts of first responders who rushed to the scene.

Sidhu's family has issued a statement saying he was a driven and passionate young man who had nearly completed a business degree and had no criminal record.

They also say the violence that was part of his death showed a disregard for public safety.

The family is appealing to anyone who knew Sidhu to contact police with any information that could be relevant to the investigation.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has said Sidhu appeared to have been targeted and his murder is believed to be linked to gang violence.

    Full statement from the family:

We remember Satkar’s childhood as normal as any or our childhoods. He had the biggest dreams, the widest smile and the kindest heart. His presence would light up a room before he even walked in and his laughter would turn anyone’s day around.

Satkar was the most driven and passionate young man there was; he poured his heart and soul into every step he took in life. He had almost completed his business degree and had so much life left to live.

Satkar did not have a criminal record. We never thought he would die under such horrible circumstances. There was a complete disregard to public safety as he was murdered during the early morning hours in a quiet residential area. It has been a full year since we lost him, yet we are still praying for answers and grieving without closure.

At this time, we would like to request for anyone who may have information about Satkar’s death to please contact the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. We would be eternally grateful if you are able to provide the police with any information. Please bear in mind no information is irrelevant and you may remain anonymous. We are making this appeal particularly to those who knew Satkar and may have valuable information, which can help the police solve his murder.

There are very few people who come into the world for an extremely short period of time, yet manage to leave behind the greatest impact – Satkar can be described as one of these people. The void of his presence will always remain, but we hope this public statement will help bring him, and our family, the justice he deserves.

    Thank you.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
