Darpan News Desk VIBC Society, 12 Jun, 2014 12:56 PM
Enjoy a mesmerizing, inspiration and magical night with Saieen Zahoor Friday, June 20th at Aria Banquet and Convention Centre in Surrey

Due to popular demand, the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC) Society teams up with Swaraj Radio and Darpan Magazine to present Pakistani Sufi legend, Saieen Zahoor for a second show in Metro Vancouver. “A Mystical Evening with Saieen Zahoor” will take place on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 6:30pm at the Aria Banquet and Convention Centre in Surrey, BC and is set to be one of the biggest must-see summer events.

Saieen Zahoor is a leading Sufi musician from Pakistan, who has spent most of his life singing in Sufi shrines. He produced his first record in 2006, when he was nominated for the BBC World Music awards, and emerged as the Best BBC voice of the year 2006. Saieen is not his first name but a Sindhi honorific title.

In 1989 he performed on a concert stage for the first time at the All Pakistan Music Conference, which brought him into musical prominence. Subsequently he has emerged as a leading performer in Pakistan, frequently appearing on TV and in concerts. Zahoor has also given concerts in UK, Japan, Ireland, India, Canada, and Norway.

Sufi singing is focused on poetry with themes of devotional love, which shares much with Persian mystic poets like Rumi and with other South Asian traditions such as the Bhakti cult.

On Friday, June 20, 2014 enjoy a magical evening of Bulleh Shah poetry in an intimate gathering. Ticket prices include a full-course Indian buffet dinner.

Tickets available at: Kamal’s Video Palace (Surrey), Ravi Video (Surrey), Golden Star Video (Surrey), Prince Video (Abbotsford) or call 604 839 4225
