A man's body pulled out of a Surrey home fire

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 05 Apr, 2021 09:27 PM
  • A man's body pulled out of a Surrey home fire

A Surrey fire took place at 5:45am on Monday and firefighters worked quickly to pull a man's body out.

Firefighters say crews were called from both Surrey and Delta to the area of 96 Avenue and 117 Street.

According to Assistant Chief of Operations Steve Serbic “Delta Fire arrived first. They commenced on a fire attack on a fully involved basement suite and they ended up finding a person, pulled them out, and unfortunately that person didn’t make it,” Assistant Chief of Operations Steve Serbic explained.

The cause of the fire and the man's identity are not known at this point.

4 residents in upstairs area of the home managed to get out unharmed.

The home is attached to a produce business.

The RCMP has taken over the investigation. No other injuries have been reported.

Serbic added “They never want a rescue operation to end like this and both Surrey and Delta Fire arrived on scene and they did the best they could do,”
