A massive blaze engulfed an apartment buidling in South Vancouver Thursday evening. Firefighters were at the intersection of West 62nd Avenue and Columbia Street. The fire gutted the four-storey apartment building under construction and turned it into ash.

According to firefighters there were no construction workers at the site when they arrived. They were unsure of how or where in the under-construction building the fire began, but confirmed no one was injured in the incident.

The townhouse was evacuated as crews battled the blaze. Those in the neighborhood shared pictures via social media a big orange glow and plumes of thick black smoke.
