A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook off the west coast of Vancouver Island earlier today.
Earthquakes Canada says there have been no reports of damage from the quake that was about 213 kilometres southwest of Port Alice.
It comes less than a week after dozens of people reported feeling a 5.7 magnitude quake that rumbled in the same area. (CTV Vancouver Island)
The pedestrian was walking near the Sperling-Burnaby Lake Station Bus Loop when he was struck by a southbound transit bus turning into the bus loop just after 6 p.m. last night. It was dark and raining at the time of the crash, but all contributing factors in this incident are still under investigation.
Mounties have located and arrested the suspect. The fire was believed to be intentionally set by a person known to the occupants. Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the general public.

Avalanche Canada says a group of five snowboarders and one skier were caught in the slide Thursday in an area known as Terminator 2.5 outside of a ski area boundary near the town of Golden. Avalanche Canada says the two buried victims did not survive and the one person partly buried was rescued with injuries.
