Coquitlam RCMP is investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian.

On Sunday morning at 9:30, Mounties responded to the area of Clarke Road and Smith Avenue in Coquitlam after a motorcycle struck a pedestrian.

The motorcycle was travelling west-bound on Clarke Road as the pedestrian was crossing Clarke Road near the McDonalds located at 531 Clarke Road, Coquitlam.

The motorcycle collided with an 83-year-old pedestrian who was transported to hospital and later succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle remained on scene to speak with Police.

“If you witnessed this incident and have not spoken to police, our investigators would like to speak with you,” said Corporal Alexa Hodgins with Coquitlam RCMP. “If you have dash cam, cellphone or any video of the area, please reach out to the Coquitlam RCMP to speak with police.”

Coquitlam RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have video between 9:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023 along Clark Road near Smith Avenue in Coquitlam to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
