The B-C-S-P-C-A says it has rescued eight llamas, including a four-month-old baby, from a property in South Surrey.
The society says the animals were at large and possibly abandoned when they were found with heavy matting and overgrown toenails.
It says the llamas had no apparent entry to shelter, no obvious feed, and the only accessible water was puddles on the ground.
The rescuers say the llamas may be available for adoption as early as next week, and are social animals who can happily coexist in pastures with goats, sheep, donkeys or horses.
