Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 Oct, 2016 12:48 PM
Police continue to investigate a fatal collision that happened yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Yew Street and West 49th Avenue.

Just after 3:00 pm, a 67-year-old woman was walking in a marked crosswalk at Yew Street. She was struck by an SUV driven by a 74-year-old man making a left turn onto West 49th Avenue. The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but did not survive.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. The vehicle was towed by police for mechanical testing. While the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, speed and alcohol are not considered factors.

This is Vancouver’s 11th pedestrian fatality in 2016.
