There are 587 new cases of COVID-19 in BC, for a total of 137,810 COVID cases. The rolling 7 day case average is now below 600 new cases a day, at 598.

There are 5 new deaths. One person in 60s, everyone else older than 70. There have been 1,632 total COVID deaths in BC.

There are 5,691 active cases across BC of COVID. There are 413 people in hospital with COVID and 141 of them are in ICU.

No restrictions will be lifted in BC until after the May long weekend. And not all restrictions will be eased after the weekend. Dr. Henry - "It will not be flicking a switch."

The province has now administered more than 2,335,000 total doses. There have been 119,691 second doses administered.

There has been a second case of VITT in BC after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. It is a male in his 40s in Fraser Health and receiving treatment. He is in stable condition.

1,340 people in BC have gotten COVID-19 21 days after first vaccine. It makes up 1.7% of the province's COVID cases. There have been 120 cases among those with 2 doses.

Province will outline plan next week on how 12 to 17 year olds will receive vaccine. Says it could be crucial to ensuring grad ceremonies.

All British Columbians can book a COVID shot starting this weekend. Starting tomorrow those born in 1996 or earlier (25 plus) will be able to book. The 20 plus group (2001) will be invited to book on Saturday. Then the next day it will move to 18 plus (2003)
