At about 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 27, the young girl was abducted from her bedroom in the family home by an unknown male.

The man took the girl to a nearby park where it is alleged that she was sexually assaulted. She was then taken to a nearby yard of a neighbourhood home and told by the suspect to remain there while the male departed.

Moments later the girl fled to her residence and sought help from her mother. The girl was taken to the hospital where she was cared for by medical professionals.

RCMP say Donovan Adams was scheduled to make a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Surrey RCMP Supt. Trent Rolfe thanked the community for its support and co-operation in the investigation as residents raised concerns about public safety.

Police also said at the time that they did not see any links with previous sexual attacks in the Surrey area.

They do not believe the suspect knew the victim.
