21 year old Sikh woman, Pawanpreet Kaur, shot dead outside gas station in Mississauga

Toronto, Dec 5 (IANS) In a "targeted" killing, a 21 year-old Canadian-Sikh woman died after being shot multiple times outside a gas station in Mississauga, police said.
Pawanpreet Kaur, a resident of Brampton, died on December 3 at th Petro Canada gas station in the Creditview-Britannia roads area around 10.40 pm.
"Upon arrival police located the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Life saving measures were attempted however the victim succumbed to her injuries, a Peel Regional Police statement said.
Police are on a lookout for the suspect who was dressed in all dark clothing and was observed leaving the scene on foot following the incident.
Calling it a targeted incident, the police has launched a homicide investigation.
No weapon has been recovered so far from the crime scene, police said.
They have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage that may have captured the moments leading up to, during, or after the incident to contact the investigators, adding that there is no threat to the public safety.
The incident comes just days after 18 year-old Indian-origin Sikh Mehakpreet Sethi was stabbed to death at the parking lot of a high school in Surrey, British Columbia.
The government plans to offer cheques of up to $650 to qualifying low- and middle-income families with children under the age of 12 to help pay for their dental needs. Qualifying families will have to attest that they don't have private insurance, that they have out-of-pocket dental expenses and that they will keep their receipts.
Police say fights broke out inside and outside the PNE Amphitheatre following the sudden cancellation of the headline act in the final hours of the two-day BreakOut Festival. The police statement says hostile concertgoers also caused significant property damage to the amphitheatre, other PNE grounds and the surrounding neighbourhood before order was restored.
At approximately 4:30pm, on Sunday, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 12300 block of 68thavenue. Responding officers attended and found shots fired into a residence and confirmed there were no injuries.
The Finance Ministry says the deal is between the Public School Employers' Association and school presidents' councils representing 57 locals of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

Sim was 15 years old when she and a group of teenagers swarmed and beat Virk, and her trial heard she and a co-accused later followed the 14-year-old girl to continue the beating and drown her in the Gorge waterway.
