2 men shot outside South Vancouver nightclub

Police say they're investigating after two men were shot at outside Gallery nightclub in south Vancouver early Sunday morning.

They say officers responded to reports of gunfire and found a 44-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm, while the other man wasn't injured.

Vancouver police say investigators believe the men were standing outside the club when a suspect walked up and fired multiple shots, then took off in a vehicle.

A statement from Sergeant Steve Addison says people shouldn't have to worry about being in the crossfire of gang violence and anyone with information about the incident around 1:50 a-m Sunday is asked to call police.

A minor earthquake has struck off the coast of British Columbia. Earthquakes Canada says the 3.9 magnitude quake was registered just before 11:00 p.m. PDT. The epicentre was 198 kilometres west of Port Hardy, south of Vancouver Island. It was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres. No tsunami is expected.

Freeland says feds will strike 'challenging' balance in fall budget update

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Tuesday the government's fall economic statement will focus on housing and affordability within a fiscally responsible framework. The federal government's financial statements were published Tuesday, revealing the deficit for the 2022-23 fiscal year came in at $35.3 billion.
