  • 2 men hurt during a stabbing in the Metrotown area

On Thursday night, at around 10:20pm Burnaby RCMP officers were called to Silver Drive in the Metrotown after reports of three men fighting.

Via release, Mounties say "It’s believed two men were leaving a nearby restaurant when they got into a physical fight with a third man, who was not known to them, in a parking lot. A knife was pulled during the incident".

Two of the men allegedly involved in the fight fled the area in a vehicle that was boxed in by police near Kingsway and Sussex Avenue.

A 33-year-old man found inside the vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment of stab wounds.

His injuries are believed to be superficial. The second man in the vehicle, who is 40-years-old, was not hurt.

A 27-year-old man involved in the fight was found in the area by police and was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, which do not appear to be serious.

According to police, they seized a knife found nearby.

The incident is being investigated by Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team (IST).

Witnesses in the area are asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
