Mounties are praising two bystanders in Kelowna who jumped into action and disarmed a man who allegedly stabbed a woman at a bus station.

R-C-M-P say two "good samaritans" were physically detaining the suspect when an officer arrived to arrest the man.

The woman was rushed to hospital and she's expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the suspect and the victim are known to each other.

Officers flooded the area and used their vehicles to block the taxi in, arresting its driver, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police say the investigation is in its early stages, but they believe the taxi was stolen in a carjacking incident.
