Police in Vancouver say two suspects have been arrested and released pending further investigation into a homicide in the Downtown Eastside last week.
They say officers had responded to reports of a man in medical distress in the Chinatown neighbourhood last Wednesday afternoon.
Police are identifying the victim as 40-year-old William Coffin and say they believe he had been stabbed during an altercation.
A police news release says the suspect ran after hitting the victim and took the axe with him. Officers, with help from police dog services, searched for the suspect but were unsuccessful.

Officers responded to West Pender and Carrall Street shortly after midnight and discovered a man who was deceased. The victim has not yet been identified and no arrests have been made.
