2 Arrested In Death Of American Man Julian Jones Visiting Toronto For Bachelor Party

The Canadian Press, 10 Nov, 2016 12:08 PM
TORONTO — Police have arrested two people in connection with the brutal beating death of an American man who was visiting Toronto for a bachelor party.

Julian Jones died over the weekend after what police have alleged was an unprovoked fight.

They say Jones was in Toronto from Maryland to celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding when he and his friends were approached by a group of men outside a bar looking for a fight.

Police say Jones got separated from his friends and was allegedly attacked by the group of men.

They say Jones was punched and repeatedly kicked in the head even after he lay semi-conscious on the sidewalk, and died while he was being rushed to a hospital.

Kenneth Omorojbe and Kamari Folkes have both been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Police say the two men are the main suspects in the case but note that they are still looking for at least one other person.

Police say the investigation is still "very active and ongoing."

Det.-Sgt. Gary Giroux said Toronto police have received a great deal of help from witnesses and staff at the bar where the bachelor party was taking place.

"The people in this particular area of this city were very co-operative," he said.
