  • 1M dollar investor theft in North Vancouver

A North Vancouver man has been sentenced to three years in prison after stealing close to one-million dollars U-S from investors.

The B-C Securities Commission says Ward Derek Jensen was sentenced in provincial court after pleading guilty to theft over five-thousand dollars.

The commission says its criminal investigation found Jensen stole more than 970-thousand dollars from nine investors between 2007 and 2017 under the pretense of investing the money in a private fund and promising lucrative returns.

It says Jensen concealed his theft and trading losses by sending his victims forged monthly statements, and he's been ordered to pay more than 900-thousand dollars in restitution to the victims in addition to the prison time.
