VERNON, B.C. — Police say a 16-year-old boy has been charged after a loaded handgun was seized in connection with the drug trade in Vernon, B.C.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit says officers went to a home in connection with activity related to recent violence involving drugs.
He says they saw an individual believed to be associated to the current conflict getting into the passenger seat of a vehicle.
Houghton says officers conducted a search, and the teen was taken into custody for possession of a loaded firearm without a licence.
Police say violence related to drugs has escalated in the north Okanagan city.
