15 year old in hospital after being stabbed on the grounds of a Delta elementary school

On Wednesday at 9:40 pm, Delta Police responded to a stabbing that occurred on the grounds of McCloskey Elementary School.

Upon arrival, officers provided first aid to a 15-year-old victim with stab wounds. The youth was transferred to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The injuries have been classified as non-life threatening.

The investigation has determined the victim was targeted. There is no known connection to any other high-profile assaults in the lower mainland involving youth.

While the incident occurred on school grounds, there is no connection to the school.

Police officers will be in the area today to continue the investigation and look to collect video.

If you were driving in the area of 116^th St and 80^th Ave on April 12^th, between 9:20 pm and 9:50 pm, and you have dash camera video, our investigators would like to hear from you. The victim has been identified as 55-year old Surinderjit Singh of Maple Ridge. Mr. Singh’s death is not believed to be related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict. Initial evidence suggests that Mr. Singh arrived at the location at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

VPD investigates Granville Street triple stabbing

Three men, all in their early 20s, got into a verbal altercation in the west lane of Granville Street at Nelson just before 7:30 p.m. The argument escalated and turned violent, resulting in all three being stabbed. The men were taken to hospital by ambulance and are expected to survive.
