There are 1360 new cases of COVID. From Fri to Sat 443 cases, Sat to Sun 493 cases and 424 cases Sun to Mon. There have been 139,664 cases in BC.

The 7 day average case count is now 508 cases per day. The lowest it has been since February 22, nearly 3 months ago.

There have been 14 deaths in BC. 12 are 60 plus. 1 person in 40s died and 1 in 50s. In total, 1,648 people have died from COVID in BC.

BC has delivered 2,538,328 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 130,023 second doses have been delivered.

There are 350 in hospital with COVID, down 37. There 132 people in ICU. There are 5,021 active cases of the virus in BC.

On second dose of Astra in BC, Dr. Bonnie Henry says the protection you get after dose 1 goes up over 12 weeks. The remaining 20,000 Astra doses is good until the end of June.

Dr. Henry says there is time to wait for the second dose. There will be an option to receive Astra as a second dose if you got it as a first dose.

Health minister Adrian Dix says there are 128 surge beds currently in use in BC and 14 critical care surge beds.

Dr. Henry - "We are not yet ready to make any changes to the provincial health orders this week. It is important this week to stay the course."
