04 Jan, 2018 10:41 AM

Surrey RCMP say a man is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries following an early morning shooting in Cloverdale neighbourhood.

Police say they received a call of shots fired at 17400 block of 64th Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived they found a man inside a white BMW SUV suffering from gunshot wounds.

There is no suspect description available yet, but officers are expected to continue canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses Thurdsay.

"The investigation is still in its early stages but initial indications are that this is likely a targeted incident," Surrey RCMP said in a news release. "It is too early to determine if this incident is related to drugs or other shootings."

Anyone with information can contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 (quote file #2018-1547) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
