1 in hospital in Maple Ridge shooting

Mounties in Maple Ridge are investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday afternoon that sent a man to hospital.

Ridge Meadows R-C-M-P say officers responded to a call of shots fired just before 3 p-m in the area around 123 Avenue and 222nd Street.

Police say officers showed up on the scene and found a pair of vehicles that had been in a crash.

Officers say one driver was suffering gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital, and police were soon after called to a vehicle fire they believe was related to the gunplay.

Police say they reviewed security footage and interviewed witnesses, and found the woman who was allegedly assaulted had actually fallen off an electric scooter and hit her face on the pavement.
