Sharing the stories of inspirational South Asian Canadians is a wonderful way to celebrate their achievements and contributions to society. Through Darpan My Journey we hope to inspire others within the South Asian community and beyond, while also fostering a sense of pride and unity. This project's goal is to shine a light on diverse experiences, challenges overcome, and successes achieved, ultimately enriching the cultural landscape and promoting inclusivity.
A rich tapestry of experiences defines womanhood through the ages. In this special feature, we embark on a journey across generations, inviting three remarkable women – a daughter, a mother, and a grandmother – to share their perspectives on life. Through their voices, we aim to uncover the nuanced layers of the female experience, weaving together past, present, and future threads.
In an age where digital footprints and entrepreneurial achievements often quantify success, it's essential to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse accomplishments of women in various fields. This recognition challenges stereotypes and highlights that success is a multifaceted concept, deeply personal and unique to each individual
Donors at the Giving Hearts Gala celebrated the excellence of Langley Memorial Hospital’s surgical team on Feb. 3 when they raised an incredible $260,000 for new equipment. Nearly 250 guests gathered at the Langley City Coast Hotel and Convention Centre to give through a charity raffle, silent and live auctions at the fifth annual gala that witnessed a night of philanthropy by the South Asian community.
Intergenerational trauma is when traumatic experiences are transferred from parents to children through biological changes in the body or learnt behaviors. Trauma is the emotional response caused by a singular or series of distressing events that are outside one’s ability to cope. These traumatic roots run deep, with events like colonization and the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan leaving profound scars within our community.

Surrey’s business community gave generously at the Surrey Board of Trade’s annual Seasonal Sizzle Business Reception on December 5. The event raised over $12,500 and 555 pounds of food for the Surrey Food Bank, in partnership with The Full Cupboard. The event was sponsored by Balraj Mann of BM Group of Companies.
