Vancouver’s top tastemakers lend a hand to the Ultimate Upcycle Challenge

Darpan News Desk, 15 Feb, 2017 10:56 AM
Eating your veggies has never tasted better! The Ultimate Upcycle Challenge presented by Rust-Oleum Consumer Brands Canada is back at the 46th annual BC Home + Garden Show, from February 22-26, 2017 at BC Place Stadium. This collaboration with some of Vancouver’s top tastemakers and upcycling enthusiasts is always a show favourite and is all about raising awareness and much-needed funds for Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver.

This year, the Ultimate Upcycle Challenge: Eat Your Veggies is back with a fresh new twist to grow your greens and give back to the local community at the same time. With a focus on sustainable gardening, this crafty fundraiser brings together five of Vancouver’s top tastemakers and  influencers who are sprouting change by upcycling rescued items, hand-picked themselves from ReStore Vancouver, into one-of-a-kind containers for herb and vegetable gardens, using only paints and stains provided by Rust-Oleum Consumer Brands Canada, and a frugal $50 design budget.

“The Ultimate Upcycle Challenge is always one of our favourite show features year in and year out,” said Tyson Kidd, show manager for Marketplace Events, producers of the BC Home + Garden Show. “It’s a fun and sustainable fundraiser that proves to be a hit among visitors and participants alike at every show as it highlights incredible creativity and supports a great, local cause as well. We’re so grateful for the support that our city’s top tastemakers and generous bidders lend to Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver each year through this initiative”

At the BC Home + Garden Show, visitors will be encouraged to place a silent auction bid on their favourite upcycled container gardens of choice, with 100% of the silent auction proceeds benefitting Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver to help provide local families with a safe and affordable place to live. This year, show visitors can bid on five upcycled container gardens at the Ultimate Upcycle Challenge, located at section 230 in BC Place Stadium, featuring one-of-a-kind entries.

The BC Home + Garden Show runs from Wednesday, February 22nd at 4 p.m. to Sunday, February 26th at 6 p.m. at BC Place Stadium. For more information visit bchomeandgardenshow.com
