Vancouver Opera launches fundraising campaign to support innovative programming

Darpan News Desk, 30 Nov, 2016 02:26 PM
Vancouver Opera (VO) has launched a special fundraising campaign that will support the innovative programming planned for the Vancouver Opera Festival. Today, the company is delighted to announce that all members of the Vancouver Opera Board of Directors have pledged a contribution to this multi-year fund development initiative.

With a goal for this fiscal year of $1M, support for the campaign goes well beyond those on the VO board.   Martha Lou Henley, C.M., has pledged an extraordinary leadership gift and VO is thrilled and honoured to recognize her as VO Festival Patron. Other leading contributors include Allan and Gwendoline Pyatt, Jill Bodkin, Eric Carlson, Divyesh and Charu Gadhia, Julia and Demas Kim, Bill and Risa Levine, Bill and Jana Maclagan, George and Jessica Macintosh, Mary and Rod McNeil, Bev Park and Jim Logan, Pascal and Isabelle Spothelfer and the SpencerCreo Foundation.

Board Chair, Pascal Spothelfer, says, “With the expertise of VO's new General Director and the committed support of the board and VO's lead donors, we are confident that adding a Festival as part of our season will be a resounding success. I am very grateful to this group of community leaders and opera enthusiasts for their incredible support and dedication.”

The inaugural Vancouver Opera Festival (April 28 - May 13, 2017) will close the 2016/17 VO Season. During this 16-day period, audiences will be offered a range of programming that includes mainstage opera, cabaret, visual art, contemporary Aboriginal performance art, and avant-garde chamber concerts.
