Party at the Park
Surrey’s award-winning Fusion Festival will be returning to Holland Park from July 22nd to 23rd for a weekend of fun family-friendly entertainment. Indulge in cuisines from over 50 different countries while learning about different cultures and listening to music from around the world. Make sure you bring your friends and family to the World Music Stage, where there will be free performances from headliners Nelly Furtado, Classified, and Sharry Mann along with many other live acts performing all weekend.
This year will also feature a Canada 150 Zone to celebrate Canada’s milestone birthday, presenting musicians from around the world and special children’s cooking demos from SuperChefs Cookery – a world renowned team of chefs dedicated to teaching kids about healthy eating. In the spirit of Canada’s history, there will be Indigenous and French Canadian performers as well as dancing, Canada-themed trivia, and contests.
Movies at the Park
Make your movie night extra special this summer by joining friends, family and neighbours for a night of entertainment under the stars. Movies Under The Stars is an open air screening of your favourite films that is free for all ages. Featuring entertainment from local performers as well as fun activities and games, attendees can enjoy quality family time together every Saturday evening at 5 PM followed by a family-friendly movie when the sun sets.
Walks in the Park
Did you know that there are over 100 kilometres of walking and hiking trails within Surrey? Escape from the busy city this summer by visiting one of Surrey’s many parks and gardens, each featuring a variety of flowering plants, shrubs, trees and artwork in beautiful and vibrant colours.
Nature lovers of all ages can get involved by participating in the Environmental Extravaganza, which features a series of guided nature walks amongst many other activities. Or if you’re looking to try something a little different, experience fishing in the heart of the city by checking out local fishing locations such as Brownsville Bar Park or Green Timbers Urban Forest. The park features picnic areas and over 10km of trails to walk with friends, family and dogs on a leash.
Sports in the Park
Whether you’re a spectator or like to get right in on the action, there is something for every sport lover in Surrey this summer. Gather a group of friends and head to one of Surrey’s amazing outdoor sports facilities, such as the basketball hoops in Holland Park or the outdoor soccer fields. If you’re into more extreme sports, check out the 30,000 sq ft Chuck Bailey Skate Park, which also boasts a covered area to keep you active on those rainy summer days. The North Surrey Rec Centre will also be open all summer for indoor swimming and activities.
Sports spectators can look forward to the 2017 Canada Cup International Softball Championship. Held from July 7 – 17, the Canada Cup will showcase the best female fastpitch players from across Canada and the world. Music in the Park
Bring your folding chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and get ready to enjoy the sounds of music from around the world. Surrey’s Sounds of Summer concert series features performances every Wednesday evening from June 28th to August 30th, as well as an additional three daytime performances at different parks all around Surrey.
