Wagah suicide bomber was 25-year-old: militants

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 Nov, 2014 10:24 AM
The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction Thursday released details of a man it said carried out the deadly suicide bombing near the Pakistan-India border crossing killing 60 people.

A spokesman for the group, Ehsanullah Ehsan, said Hanifullah alias Hamza, 25, detonated himself Nov 2 targeting people returning from the flag-lowering ceremony at the Wagah border gate, Dawn online reported.

The militants also released a photo of the alleged bomber.

According to officials, Hanifullah belonged to a bordering town in Mohmand tribal agency.

Ehsan said the banned outfit would release a video of the attack, which it added was carried out to avenge a military operation against the Taliban and tribesmen in the FATA region bordering Afghanistan.
