Vijender Gupta, AAP Woman Worker's Family Meet Rajnath Singh

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Jul, 2016 01:12 PM
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta accompanied by the husband and daughter of the AAP worker who had committed suicide last week after being allegedly harassed, on Friday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

"It is a serious matter and calls for in-depth and expeditious enquiry ... Justice will be done to her and members of the family," Mr Singh was quoted as saying in a release by Delhi BJP.

The 28-year-old woman had consumed poisonous substance at her home in north west Delhi's Narela and died during treatment at LNJP Hospital on July 19.

The woman had filed a complaint against Ramesh Bhardwaj for allegedly touching her inappropriately and a case of molestation was registered in June. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.

On July 20, Delhi Police had registered a case of abatement to suicide and handed over the entire matter to a Special Investigation Team.

The family members of the woman had claimed that she had gone into depression after her alleged molester Bhardwaj, an AAP colleague, was released on bail.

Bhardwaj was again arrested by a police team from Sonipat on July 26.

The victim had also alleged that the accused was being protected by a local AAP MLA.

Her husband Ashok Mishra told Mr Singh that the family has received "no concrete help so far".
